NEVER LET GO
Hello again everyone, welcome to our latest update of our blog ’25! We have been a little lax with our communication thus far this year but for very good reason as any of you who caught any of our updates to date will know
It’s ten years since our debut album MMXV and this is the second update from the chat about the singles and videos, along with updates about the year so far
Before getting into new music and what to expect this year, we’ll get straight into discussing “Never Let Go”
MMXV - Never Let Go - Second Single Feb 2015
Never Let Go was the second single from MMXV as mentioned. Just like the previous single ‘Living A Lie’, it was in very early contention for ‘single consideration’ from the moment we demo’d there song, or we showed them to anyone
We felt it had a really strong chorus that grew and incremented each time , a huge main melody along with a strong and staggered verse we felt was super catchy. There were so many reasons to like it, Living A Lie was pushed very close as the led single. It could have been a good ‘lead’ single were it not for the fact it was a little softer, perhaps giving the wrong first impression of either way it was voted down as a first, but had resounding support to be a single in itself
The song itself was one of the first that had been written for any project. It came about when I was 20 years old as a Spanish style acoustic/rock track with an infectious off beat rhythm that was both on the drums and on the palm of the strumming hand - it was cool. So it made sense very early on to suggest this as one of the primary contenders
George Taylor directed the video again as the last “Living A Lie”. Grant Magnus was still featuring as our fourth member (the last video he was to feature in). We shot the video in Birmingham and the cover art was a concept George came up with from chatting to us about ideas for the shoot
The Video

We shot the video in Birmingham at the start of 2015, green screen was to be central to both the live and narrative aspects of the shoot
The idea behind the video was a “build a band” type production line, devoid of humanity and emotion that is slowly broken over the chorus of the video when one of the Garys (me) becomes aware and escapes with the nurse (Carley Dale)
The entire narrative was shot in one day in London later in 2015, again utilising green screen to make the dystopian environment we see
We had a great laugh shooting in Birmingham and London, it was one of the last big shoots we did (even to this day), as we decided since that investing so much in the video is not a wise use of funds for a band of our size, but it was well worth trying
The reality was also that Grant had to leave the band very shortly after we shot this single, making the release and the need for an urgent new plan with a new image was vital. That meant that we were forced to be hugely pragmatic at that time and make new plans for the upcoming sons and releases in 2015, we couldn’t use any of the imagery we had made with Grant for example and we had been preparing that for months behind the scenes
Worst yet for those that know, he wasn’t even on the album/music, he joined after as planned to add balance to our live show… So in many ways this video never truly got its’ shot. The planning and last minute changes in shooting also meant that we were in love with some ideas that never transpired that we felt may have been stronger if we had more time to plan, either way we lived and learned and hope you have enjoyed some of the extra back story to what’s been going on
2025 Plan
We mentioned in our video for this blog post along with previously that we’ve been working on a plan to celebrate MMXV. We have to admit the plan for this has changed a number of times since we made it, originally we did intend on a larger than life offering, but in reality we are going to shoot some live versions of some of our MMXV songs and they’re due before the end of The Summer
A few things got in the way too, but this is the plan! And we will get back to you with actual dates asap
New Music
And lastly for now, new music! We have been working on new music for the last two years. Whispers Of Woe was done well before 2023 began, so since then all songs have been trialed and tinkered with
We finally settled on a smaller sub set of the songs that were made and have settled on an EP. 5 or 6 songs, we will see what makes the most sense
These songs probably had more versions than any we have ever done to date!… And that includes “Whispers” which took over four years, we really committed to trying to make the best versions of the songs that arose, without even trying to “make” them TSC songs if that wasn’t what felt right. That meant we spent a long time on these 5,6 front runners, they’ve all changed so much while remaining the same. We are hoping to record the drums in the next 6-8 weeks and the rest will follow from there
Lots more to come here
